The author of this book is twice Hero of the Soviet Union K.A. Evstigneev during the Great Patriotic War won 53 victories personally and 3 more in the group (this is the fifth result in Soviet aviation – only Kozhedub, Pokryshkin, Gulaev and Rechkalov shot down more). Moreover, a unique case – two enemy aircraft, Yu -88 and Me -109, Evstigneev “flooded” in the first air battle! And his own praised German aces never knocked down – although, standing out with selflessness even among the desperate Stalinist falcons, he never evaded the battle and did not avoid frontal attacks even against the 6 -gun Fockers. It was not without reason that his motto was Pushkinskoye: “There is a rapture in battle!”
Immediately after the victory of Evstigneev, for the third time, they presented the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the third time, but the idea was never approved. And the book of memoirs of the great pilot pretty “cut” censorship.
In this publication, these memoirs are printed without bills, accompanied by unique photographs from the family archive.
