The book of Vladimir Konstantinovich (Kallistratovich) Andrievich (1838-1898), Russian general, a participant in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878, the famous historian of Siberia, talks about the difficult period of the conquest and development of Transbaikalia. The reader will get acquainted with the history of Cossack campaigns in the Trans -Urals and Eastern Siberia in the second half of the 17th century, as a result of which the main outposts of Transbaikalia – Brotherhood, Selenginski and Nerchinsky prison were founded.
