If we can talk about the classic translation of “Alice” into Russian, then to this day the translation of Nina Demurova remains (first printed in Sofia – a publishing house of literature in foreign languages, 1967). Academic thoroughness, accuracy, verification of details, sophistication of analogies makes it the closest to the original. To that fairy -tale dilogy about Alice, who became almost the only example of a literary work written for children and shamelessly appropriated by adults. The translation of Demurova is a serious reading for quite serious people, those who are looking for “scientific insights” and “brilliant guesses” in it. True, this does not depend on the age of the reader.
