Our distant ancestors lived, in accordance with their desires and actions with the surrounding nature, and in the pristine naivety they called a spade a spade. The natural in their understanding was not shameful – and therefore those who find something indecent in myths and legends, just give out their own thoughts spoiled by civilization. This fully applies to that wide range of situations, concepts and those that are somehow united by the word “sex”. This area of mythology arose simultaneously with Homo sapiens, and to abandon it is at least stupid. But to know what place was occupied by sex – the most important side of the life of every normal person – in the ideas of people of antiquity, is not harmful to anyone. The book of the writer and historian Vladislav Petrov covers myths, legends and traditions of almost six hundred peoples – both disappeared and resilient to this day.
