Antonin Ladinsky (1896-1961) – Russian poet “First Wave” of emigration, author of popular historical novels about Kievan Rus and the Roman Empire. A participant in the civil war, he first ended up in Egypt, and later in France. In 1955 he returned to Russia. The novel “Anna Yaroslavna – Queen of France” tolerates the reader to the XI century. The deep mind, beauty, spirituality and education of the Kyiv princess, which became the French queen, made an indelible impression on her contemporaries. The daughter of Yaroslav the Wise adequately represented her homeland in a foreign land, which in those times was significantly more developed in cultural and economic terms than France. Based on the work of Ladinsky, the famous director Igor Maslennikov put the film of the same name. This attractive image also inspired the brothers Mishchukov, who created the song “Queen Anna” to the verses of David Samoilov.
