Ivan Dmitrievich Ermakov (1875-1942) – Russian psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, artist, art historian, literary critic, one of the organizers of the Russian Psychoanalytic Society (in 1922), his first chairman of the book series on psychoanalysis and psychology.
The fecal of this multilateral researcher, a person enthusiastically and devoted to science, belongs to a number of large books that are quite unusual for Russian literary criticism. These are books about Pushkin, Gogol and Dostoevsky, where the theoretical basis for the interpretation of the personality of the author and his artistic position is psychoanalysis. These works have called and still cause ambiguous assessments. It should be noted the courage of I.D. Ermakova, who decided on this large -scale project: not only to consider certain aspects of the personality and work of the largest Russian writers, but thereby expand the program of their psychoanalytic research, to solve the problem of building psychoanalytic research into modern literary studies.
