The book of the famous art critic and curator Viktor Misiano is the first attempt to theoretical description of curatorial practice in Russian. The author associates the appearance of the latter in the late 1960s and early 1970s with the transition from the industrial to post-industrial (intangible) production. The activities of the curator are considered in the book in the context of the art system, as well as through the ratio of global and local art processes. The author explores the inner nature of the curaticism inherent in the language and ethics. The first lecture cycle at the Moscow Institute, the text of the book, has a connection with oral speech and is accompanied by excursions to the author’s professional biography.
The book is published in the Garage Pro series, the new initiative of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and the AD Margin Press Publishing House.
