The textbook of the new generation differs primarily in that it considers the condensed state of substance both in an orderly and in a disordered state. Along with strict quantitative relationships, a large place is given to close assessments of the physical quantities characteristic of the physics of the condensed state. Such new states of condensed substance as graphene and its derivatives, as well as a hot dense substance that occurs during the interaction of ultra -short femtosecond laser pulses with solid bodies, are considered.
The book discusses many topics that have not previously received the necessary attention in the educational literature. These are abnormal dependences of the density on temperature for a number of substances, and the zone structure of liquids and amorphous bodies, and new quantum effects.
