This book introduces the reader to the life and spiritual means of Hieromonk Vasily (Roslyakov) – one of the three inhabitants of the Optina Desert, killed by Easter on the morning of April 18, 1993. The biography compiled by the monk Lazar (Afanasyev) is combined with the rich creative heritage of Vasily’s father – diaries, letters, sermons, poems, and gymnography.
