Samaria Velikovsky (1931-1990) – a famous philosopher, culturologist, literary critic.
The book traces the fate of the humanistic consciousness in the situation of shocks experienced by the civilization of the West in the 20th century. Against the general background of the state and development of philosophical thought in Europe, a deep analysis of the work of outstanding thinkers of France – Malro, Sartre, Camus and other masters of the word, revealing the worldview essence of the mentality of tragic humanism, its two initial terms – “meaning” and “meaningless”. The core of this analysis is the moral searches of the personality in the historical stream, their reflection in French prose, theater, lyrics.
