The educational leadership sets out the basics of material science of machine-building materials: metals, polymers, ceramics, wood and composites based on them. Information on the physicochemical processes of the formation of the structure of materials in various types of energy influences is given. For all types of materials, an analysis of the relationship of their structure and properties is given. The technical and economic aspects of the choice of materials for various components of machines and mechanisms are considered.
