The novel “Sand” immediately made the famous film -scenarist Valery Polotuhu by the famous prose writer – the Big Book Award was awarded to him twice – both the Literary Academy and the reader voting. Alas, posthumously – the writer did not live to the triumph of just a few months. But he managed to prepare another volume of prose for the publication, in which he included as famous for the reader of Kinopobia (“Muslim”, “Makarov”, “The Great Campaign for the Liberation of India” …), and the previously not published cycle of early stories. When Andrei Tarkovsky read the story “My Father Shakhtar”, who gave the name and cycle and this book, he accepted his author to his workshop at the highest courses of directors and scriptwriters.
