The first scientific publication “Izvestia about the life and actions of the holding Grand Dukes of the Russian” (the Yuryevskaya Stepno Book) is the essays of the beginning of the 18th century, which contains the review of the events of Russian history from ancient times to the 1560s. Being prepared, at the direction of Peter I, in the Ambassador Chancellery by processing the book of the sedate royal genealogy of the 16th century, the Izvestia was not, however, printed and remained almost unknown Russian society of the XVIII-XX centuries. Along with the text of Izvestia (published on the manuscript stored in the library of Catherine II), a detailed study on the history of its creation is placed in the book. The study described the manuscript tradition of Izvestia, highlights the biography of its compiler – the derive of I. Yu. Yuryev, the mechanism of the production of Izvestia as an official historical work is shown, other government events of the 1700s – early 1720s are considered. for the preparation of the public history of Russia.
