Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky was born and raised in Moscow, in the very center of Zamoskvorechye, which at that time was a very special world. The people who lived there, their relationship, their life, the living and colorful language of merchants, officials and nobles Ostrovsky subsequently reproduced in his comedies. With his plays, Ostrovsky created the school of real Russian dramatic art, simple and natural, alien to all kinds of pretentiousness and affectation. The book included the famous plays “Guilty without guilt”, “Snow Maiden”, “is really good, but happiness is better”, “what you go for, then you will find” (“Balzaminov’s marriage”) and others.
