This study is devoted to the “Polish question” in the public thought of Russia in the 30-60s. XIX century. The long history of difficult Russian-Polish relations formed the mutual distrust of the peoples. However, Poland is still one of our nearest Slavic neighbors. That is why the study of the problem of Russian-Polish relations, the analysis of the views of the Russian intellectual elite of the 19th century, the overcoming of negative stereotypes are relevant today.
