The textbook is devoted to the systematic presentation of physics of the main elementary processes that arise during the interaction of the electromagnetic field with atoms and nanoparticles. Such fundamental phenomena as the absorption of radiation, luminescent, induced radiation, photoionization, brake radiation, including the polarization channel, various types of photon dispersion on atoms and meso objects, including the participation of surface plasmon, as well as photo transitions in molecular systems and nanostructures are considered. Coherent non -stationary processes – self -induced transparency, optical guts and a photon echo – are described as part of the formalism of the flea vector, which allows them to give a visual geometric interpretation.
The main material was suggested by the consideration of electromagnetic interaction on the example of the simplest classical systems – a harmonic oscillator and oscillator Mors.
