This collection presents the works of the international scientific conference “The beginning of the Russian World”, which took place at the end of October 2010 to commemorate the 1150th anniversary of the historically proved by numerous sources of the emergence of the Rus fleet near Constantinople on June 18, 860. The reports published in this publication are mainly devoted to the issues of the formation of Rus’ as an independent state, the beginning of the diplomatic relations of Rus’ with Byzantium, the Christianization of Rus’, the intensive development of trade and intercultural exchange on the path from the Varangians to the Greeks, and the eternal issue: from the Russian land came from.
