“The delights are pure sample …”. Sonnets of Russian poets: Trediakovsky, Sumarokov, Maykov

The poet Ivan Kozlov called the sonnet a “frisky son of poetry”, which “Beauty, Love and Joy praises.”
The first sonnet of the Russian language was created in 1735. But only a century later, when Alexander Pushkin wrote three poems in this genre, simplifying his shape, domestic poets, forgetting the “Holy Glasses”, turned the sonnet into an integral part of our literature.
This book presents the classic sonnets of Russian poets in all their diversity. Those that demanded a “gentle kiss” (Zhukovsky) pleased with the “playful sound” (languages, Fet) and even those that “cut out a steel blade” on the snowy peak (Bunin).
Starting with the “heat of love” and “mournful thoughts” during the time of Alexander Pushkin, by the silver eyelid, our poems were able to “include two droplets of dew, three spray of light and thought that there’s nothing more” (Konstantin Balmont).
