“Wounding Miller” is the most unexpected, saddest -tracting novel from the Finn Arto Paasilin. It is no coincidence that the novel was translated into 23 languages and filmed.
Gunnar Khuttunen arrives in the Lapland village after the war. He buys, and then repairs a water mill. And everything, it would seem, is well. But the Hunnar, with his strange disposition and the habit of howling at night, when especially lonely, annoys the neighbors. “Be a man!”, “Be like everyone else!” – They say to him from all sides. Finally, the miller is sparkled into a crazy house. And then the events unfold in such a way that it is already impossible to say exactly which of the heroes of the novel is insane, and who is normal.
