The small but very well-known work of the great holy father of the Western Church of the 4th century, the holy martyr of Cyprian, Bishop of Carthage (210-258), “about the good of patience” is in its genre a word or sermon and is dedicated to one of the main Christian virtues. Examples for imitation in patience of St. Cyprian finds primarily in Christ, but also in the saints of both the Old and the New Testament. Moreover, it is a distinctive sign of genuine admirers of God, while philosophers do not have it, and therefore St. Cyprian declares Christians to be followers of true philosophy – Christian any wisdom of Christ. The importance of patience is that it stores good in a person, protects from evil, patience is useful both mental and bodily, and in general it likens a person to a long -suffering and perfect God.
