Church of St. George in Kolomensky: Belyaev, Savostyanova

Built in the XVI century, an Italian architect for Grand Duke Vasily III, according to legend, the temple was initially dedicated to the Archangel Gabriel. This is the most Renaissance, more precisely, the most Italian of all Kolomensky temples. He was rebuilt and restored many times, well -known architects E.D. Tyurin, N.A. Shokhin and others participated in these works. The last restoration was carried out in the early 2000s: a complex heating system of the XIX century temple was studied, wall paintings were cleared and restored, and the iconostasis was recreated. The booklet contains many rare photographs, drawings and engravings from the MGGZ stock collections.
