About the book
Louis Zamperini could give up and break many times – on every bend of fate, new trials awaited him. He had to survive the grass of peers and competitors in adolescence, a plane crash during World War II, several years of inhuman tests in Japanese death camps and the death of his wife in 2001.
But he coped every time and walked further – and that is why in his life there were not only these trials, but also a happy meeting with his family, who was sure that Louis died in the war, eighth place at the Olympics in Berlin (on which Louis attracted the attention of Adolf Hitler, who insisted on a personal meeting with Begun after an impressive finish was confused), national records in the runner, participation in the relay. Olympic fire in Los Angeles in 1984 and in Nagano in 1998 (on the 81st birthday).
In honor of Louis Zamperini, schools and stadiums were called, his book of memoirs “The Devil, stepping on my heels” became the bestseller of the New York Time …
