Mikhail Mikhailovich Prishvin (1873-1954), like no other in Russian literature, was able to describe the nature of his native land, notice the habits of animals, tell about the friendship of man and the beast, the integrity of being and the unity of all living things in the world. The philosopher and the poet, he easily found the great secret of the whole universe behind the ordinary secret. Gorky said that Prishvin has “a perfect ability to give a flexible combination of simple words almost physical significance to everything.” The present book includes the most famous works of the author – the fairy tale “The pantry of the Sun”, where the poetry of nature is amazingly combined with an entertaining plot, and the story “Ship Thursing”, in which the same heroes make a complete harsh trial to a protected forest.
